Chemainus Theatre Summer Show Hits The Stage

It was so real it felt like I was actually back in the 1960’s and 70’s! Chemainus Theatre’s Rock Legends will have you dancing in your seat!

Sometimes you just need to go to a good concert and sing the night away.

But unfortunately for me, my husband, dear one that he is, really has no appreciation for good music. Instead of enjoying it, he finds it distracting and annoying. He often humours me by listening to me go on and on about particular songs.

So you’ll understand my shock when he leaned over half-way through the show and told me how much he was enjoying it!

I couldn’t believe it!

He loved “Rock Legends: Sequel to Twist & Shout.”

And I’m pretty sure I have his parents to thank. Every song transported him back in time and space to his childhood living room. He was suddenly a small boy wearing a huge set of head phones sitting on blue shag carpet and listening to his parent’s 1960s and 70s record collection.

As I looked around at the theatre, I could tell the same was happening for many others. Though they were probably not all going to a shag carpeted living room memories, many were reminiscent of years gone by.

Artists like The Beach Boys, Chuck Berry, The Pointer Sisters, ABBA, The Monkeys, Elvis Presley and many more appeared on stage that night .

We all joined as audience members in 1975 to a farewell taping of “The Roy Solomon Show.” We leaned in as he showcased many of the unforgettable musical guests he had on the show for the past 20 years. It was nothing short of phenomenal. We clapped, sang, tapped our feet, and I enjoyed a permanent grin for 3 hours straight.

Chemainus Theatre once again blew me away with the talent both on stage and off. I say “off” because the set design, choreography, lights and sound, and costumes were amazing! The performance was simply flawless.

And I have to admit that I couldn’t help wondering what life was like backstage as many of the artists has some crazy-quick costume changes!

In the end, we went to a great live theatre concert and sang the night away.

I encourage you to hop online right now and book your tickets for Rock Legends. I’m confident it will sell out soon and you really don’t want to miss it.

And if you really want to enhance your experience, book dinner reservations before the show at the Playbill Dining Room. We always enjoy dining here first as it helps us relax, unwind and reconnect with one another. It truly adds so much more to the whole experience.

With food like roast pork, oysters, vegetarian lasagne, beef sliders, and mediterranean chicken, it’s no wonder we go for a short walk through the quaint seaside town of Chemainus just before the show.

Of course no meal would be complete without decadent desserts and The Playbill is sure to please your sweet tooth.
