Revelstoke Mountain Coaster With Teens And Why It’s So Wild

Riding the Revelstoke Mountain Coaster with teens was the highlight of our summer road trip. From alpine coasters to suspension bridges, here’s why Revelstoke Mountain Resort is a must-stop adventure.

Traveling with teenagers means one thing: if it isn’t exciting, you’ll hear about it. So when our road trip through the Canadian Rockies brought us to Revelstoke Mountain Resort, we knew we needed something that delivered real adrenaline, not just nice views.

Revelstoke is famous for its winter skiing, towering peaks, and legendary snowfall. But here’s what surprised us most: summer at Revelstoke Mountain Resort is just as unforgettable.

And it all started with the mountain coaster.

The Revelstoke Mountain Coaster: Why We Came

Let’s be honest. The mountain coaster was the reason we stopped.

This isn’t a traditional roller coaster. You ride solo in a cart clipped to a twisting metal pipe that launches you down the mountain through forested terrain. You control your speed with a hand lever, but even if you decide to go full send, built-in safety systems keep things secure.

Revelstoke has two alpine coaster tracks, and both are incredible. One has steeper drops. The other leans into tighter turns. Staff have their favorite, but in our family? Total split decision.

Our teen boys tried to act unfazed. Jay and I did not. We squealed, laughed, and screamed the entire way down, and we regret nothing.

We had multiple passes, which was very good news, because once was absolutely not enough.

Trust me. Video doesn’t lie.

Gondola Ride and Lunch With a View

After riding both coasters twice, we slowed things down with a gondola ride to the summit. While there are food options at both the top, we packed a picnic, and it turned out to be one of the best picnic locations we’ve had yet as a family.

The gondola climb alone is worth it. With every metre higher, the views open wider, revealing dramatic peaks, valleys, and that endless Rocky Mountain backdrop.

At the top, we sat, ate, and simply took it all in. No rushing. No phones. Just one of those rare travel moments where everyone is fully present.

The Highline Suspension Bridge: A New Kind of Thrill

From the summit, we headed to one of Revelstoke’s newest summer attractions: the Highline suspension bridge.

The hike to reach it is short and easy, which makes the payoff even better. Stepping onto the bridge, you’re suspended over the valley with nothing but air beneath your feet. The bridge gently moves, and since you can see straight through the grating below, your brain definitely notices.

It’s safe. Completely safe. But your instincts don’t care.

Jay and our teen sons were totally comfortable and stayed on the bridge longer than necessary. Mostly to tease me. Typical.

Still, standing out there felt unreal. The views are stunning, and the experience is one of those moments that sticks with you long after the day ends.

Why Revelstoke Is Perfect for Families With Teens

Finding destinations that truly work for teenagers is harder than it looks. You need real adventure, not forced fun. Revelstoke delivered exactly that.

Between the mountain coaster, gondola rides, alpine views, and the Highline bridge, the day struck the perfect balance between excitement and togetherness.

We left tired, happy, and buzzing with adrenaline. The kind of tired that comes from doing something memorable together.

Revelstoke wasn’t just a stop on our road trip from Vancouver Island to Calgary.

It became one of the highlights.

And yes… we’ll absolutely be back.
