Sparkling lights, dazzling costumes, music hits from the ages that’ll put a smile on your face. Every evening make your way to the Spectacular Lounge for a night to remember.

Our first day aboard the Carnival Splendor, I discovered “The Spectacular Lounge.”

It was empty of course, since we were all still arriving onto the ship. But from the balcony, the shine, the velvety comfy seats, and the sheer volume of the space, I could tell this was a special room where magic happens. 

Every evening during our turn down service, a schedule for the following day’s event were placed on our bed. It was like a love note from Carnival Cruise Lines. If the goal was to get us dreaming about all that was yet to come, it most certainly worked.

The hard part was choosing what to do!  The schedule was full of Trivia games, comedy shows, scavenger hunts, lip sync battles, and various musical talents in all the different lounges.

But our favourite, by far, was the evening stage shows in the Spectacular Lounge. You definitely don’t want to miss it! 

Every night, after dining in the Black Pearl Restaurant, we settled into a routine where the kids went to their room and got ready for bed and we adults went to see the show happening in “The Spectacular.” These shows are family friendly, but our kids were just plain tuckered out from a very full day of exceptional cruising fun.

So while they cozied in their stateroom beds, Jay and I sat in one of those comfy seats in “The Spectacular.” Night after blessed night we enjoyed these special cruise built-in dates together.

We were amazed, blown away, and astounded at the sheer talent that appeared every night on stage by the Playlist Production crew.

Eight individuals, all exceptional singers and dancers, showed up and entertained the room. And they entertained with a fantastic mix of times gone by.  80’s night, 90’ Epic Rock, funky 70’s Studio 54 inspired show, and the Rock n Roll Piano show; each concert was amazing. We heard music of Michael Jackson, Duran Duran, Elton John, numerous MoTown favourites and the best of 90’s Rock. It was incredible!

Each night we sat there more blown away than the night before. You’d think we’d get used to it, but we never tired of watching these amazingly talented artists.

Their musical abilities were truly astounding with perfectly blended voices that sounded just like the original artists!

Their dancing and choreography lit up the stage every night. Never missing a twirl or swing. The Playlist Production crew hypnotized us all as we gazed in awe.

The lighting sparkled, the stage sets impressed us, and the costumes dazzled. We joined with the rest of the audience singing along to our favourite songs and just had a great time being entertained for the hour. Each Carnival Splendor stage show made the music come alive. Each night felt like a high-energy concert.

The entertainment really did give “The Spectacular” its name, perfectly ending our days aboard the Carnival Splendor before heading back to our balcony stateroom for the night.
