Discover The Must Have Items For Your Next Tropical Island Getaway

Paradise awaits! Get ready for your tropical island adventure with these 5 essential travel tips and must-have items.

I have been fortunate enough to visit several tropical destinations. Through my experiences, I have learned some valuable tips and must-have accessories that will make your vacation on a tropical island even more enjoyable.

First and foremost, it is crucial to pack light:

You will be spending most of your time in a swimsuit and light clothing, so resist the urge to overpack. Plus, it will be much easier to navigate through everything with a lighter bag and only the things you really need.

As for clothing, make sure to bring breathable and lightweight fabrics such as cotton, linen, or rayon. These materials will keep you cool and comfortable in the hot and humid weather. Also, don’t forget to bring a waterproof bag or cover for your phone and other electronics.

Next, let’s talk about not burning to a crisp by the tropical sun:

It is essential to wear sunscreen every day, even if it’s not sunny. The UV rays on tropical islands are much stronger, and you don’t want to end up with a painful sunburn. I recommend packing a sunscreen with a high SPF and reapplying every few hours.

Another must-have accessory for tropical vacations is a good pair of sunglasses. Not only will they protect your eyes from the bright sun, but they will naturally relax your body. Additionally, a wide-brimmed hat will provide extra protection for your face and neck and avoid you ruining your vacation from a bad burn.

I highly recommend investing in a waterproof phone case:

You will be surrounded by stunning landscapes and crystal-clear waters, and you don’t want to miss capturing those memories. Plus, it will give you peace of mind knowing your electronics are protected in a waterproof phone case from any accidental damage.

When it comes to footwear, leave your high heels and fancy shoes at home:

Instead, opt for comfortable and sturdy sandals that are suitable for walking on sandy beaches and uneven terrain. You may also want to bring a pair of water shoes for activities like snorkeling or hiking in wet areas.

Portabrella is our new found favourite travel beach umbrella of all time:

Portabrella, Travel beach Umbrella

The travel beach umbrella that packs into your suitcase, conveniently slings over your shoulder and sets up in minutes providing instant shade anywhere you go. We were dreaming of long sunny beach days as part of our Mexican Riviera Carnival Cruise, but we had a problem. The Mexican sun is super hot!! And we knew with our kids we wouldn’t last long out in the open under the rays without some shade. The Portabrella solved all our problems!

Lastly, how about some obvious yet essential items that many people tend to forget:

First aid kit, insect repellent, and a reusable water bottle are a must for any tropical vacation. You never know when you might need a band-aid or an anti-itch cream for mosquito bites. And having a water bottle will save you money and reduce plastic waste on the island.
